Our Name
In 2015, our church was originally planted as Harvest Bible Chapel North Muskegon out of the faithful ministry of Harvest Spring Lake. Ever since then, God has been writing a unique story through His work in our church, so in 2019, we changed our name to Christ Church. This name was chosen with great intentionality. We wanted the name of our church to clarify both our mission and our message.
Christ
For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. — 1 Corinthians 2:2
We wanted our church, in its name, to highlight the only name we want people to know: Christ. We want to know nothing except Christ and Him crucified. He is the cornerstone. We are baptized into His name. The Gospel is His story. We are called to live by faith and grace, in Christ, as a new creation. No other name is higher.
Church
Jesus said,“I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” — Matthew 16:8
The original Greek word for church is “ekklesia,” meaning “to call out of.” The church is the gathering of those called out by God. We are called out with a purpose and a mission: to glorify God by loving God, loving others, and making disciples of all nations. The church is made up of disciples following Christ who are going into the world to make disciples. We are on a mission individually as disciples and together as the church.
Our Mission
We exist to glorify God by loving God, loving others, and making disciples of all nations.
Our mission is rooted in the teaching of Jesus, seen in the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20). And while this is the mission of our church, we desire to see each of these actions (loving God, loving others, and making disciples) come alive in the hearts of each individual person in our church. When each person is doing their part to live on mission this way, everything we do as a church falls into alignment under this unified purpose. God accomplishes his work through us as we seek to glorify him.
Our Motives
These motives are derived from Biblical truths, and they represent shared convictions that guide the actions and reveal the strengths of our church.
Our Map
At Christ Church, there are four ways you can engage the mission of our church and be equipped to live out God’s mission for your life.
